This would require a deep analysis about what is a "gamer". But going by one of my many definitions...
Merriam-Webster defines "sore loser" as "a person who becomes very upset or angry when he or she loses a game, contest, etc."
BS! That's not being a sore loser - that's being a gamer.
I'm not sure if something is lost in translation here, but I see a sore loser as someone who unfairly retaliates losing to opponents in some manner (especially outside the game) and/or refuses to admit the result or tries to cheat to change it. (Complaining that game wasn't fair can be legitimate: some condition in game may have actually been against a player or one can be exceptionally unlucky. Such rant doesn't necessarily make one sore loser, if the complaint is valid.)
Feeling bad about losing doesn't make you sore loser and it's not a childish temper tantrum to walk away when you are "very upset or angry".
Flipping board or turning off console etc. goes over the line - but in extreme case might be understandable, even if technically in the sore loser category.
