International Esports Federation is the so far most credible amateur esports organization, with 140 member countries.
Currently is being played their 15th world championship tournament. These have included 1-6 games, such as League of Legends, StarCraft II, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Tekken 7 (last three being among this year games).
The tournament is hugely overshadowed by professional esports. Like in snowboarding and such sports X-Games and other professional events have been high above "official" world championships (or even Olympics), esports is still firmly in hands of professional leagues.
Even so, these world championships are confusing to look at. For example DotA 2 final will be between Myanmar and Mongolia; Kyrgystan was third.
I don't know why, but Finland did participate qualifying, even though we are member of IESF. All other Nordics did, same as most European countries.
2023 world championship includes one women's event, CS:GO. Argentina, Netherlands and US will be the medalists.
Ukraine withdrew mid-tournament (having team in CS:GO quarterfinal and DOtA2 playoffs) as protest to announcement that IESF will allow Russia to return to esports.
