Homeschooling is as good against traditional schooling as good an average person is in teaching compared to a professional.
There may be a very specific group of suitable parents or type of children to whom homeschooling is the better option, but I don't think it's exaggeration to say that's 1% or so.
I do think homeschooling should be allowed - I believe it is here - but it also should be regulated with annual standardized tests, excessive failing of which would ban continuing homeschooling.
