Charging Rent

What do you think about parents of 18+ year olds who charge them rent?

I understand if they can't pay the rent otherwise and work. I wouldn't do it, but I can pay the rent. Some kids are spoiled rotten and some parents are spoiled rotten. Read lately about a boy who wanted to leave cause the stepdad already let him pay insane much and wanted even more, but the rotten lazy mother just didn't work.

If it motivates the kid to DO something with their lives, then yes, I'm for it. I didn't charge my daughter any rent because she helped do things around the house, and also I wanted to give her the ability to be able to save up for first, last months' rent and deposit.
