Read the full story on The Auto Wire
When a PIT results in death, do you think the officer should be charged with vehicular manslaughter? (Why/Why Not)

Only if there was no existing danger before it - basically if the suspect was driving normally other than refusing to stop and there was no reason to assume they might commit violence (known to be armed etc.)

The driver made a choice NOT to pull over, and demonstrated that they were willing to put the lives of others on the road in danger by cutting through traffic trying to evade arrest.
Making that decision means they accepted the risk.

I'd love to know the reasoning in this case

If you click the link in the OP, you'll then know the reason.

I did read it.
What I meant is the reasoning behind this manouever as opposed to other options with less-likely-to-be-fatal outcomes. If I was a family member of this person I'd be p**ed

Sorry, I misunderstood. There is another option which I think should be used instead:

What do you think of this method?
That's what comes to mind for me when I think of things like the video, and article, in the OP. Officers have so much at their disposal than more reckless manouvers to stop drivers who are already putting people at risk. According to the OP article, the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt (her fault, I know...) But considering that, and the condition of the rear window, other means need to be considered
