Adidas has banned football fans from buying German football kits customised with the number 44, after media raised their resemblance to the symbol used by World War Two-era Nazi SS units.

It's not a number normally used in football and I think it's as or less likely for anyone to have some personal reason to choose that particular number as it is for it to be used for this association, considering far-right tend to be sports fans.
