I remember when I reached out to my MIL when my husband was being too aggressive around us, and her answer was that I should be keeping that stuff private within my house.
Everything with that family was always hush, hush, no matter the issue. That irritated me that I was reaching out to her for help and she told me not to talk about it.
She eventually sent us to marital counseling (she paid) and the counselor figured out it was my husband's medication causing the aggressive behavior.
