Would you prefer to receive cash or a gift card as a gift and why?

Neither, but if I have to choose from the two it would be cash. Store gift cards force me to buy from a certain place and usually there is nothing that I really would like.

Normally cash, so I can use it for whatever and not a present. I do like the gift card I get from work each Christmas. Last years I bought shoes from it, but they're still good, so this year I used it for meds for the rabbit and bought fun things like a practical pan and branches for Christmas pieces elsewhere.

Gift cards are best for me. I usually only get them from family or others who know where I shop, or will get me a card from Amazon to go toward what I'd like. Cash would be okay, too, but it'd be about the same thing: cash --> bank --> shop --> credit card --> payment. Gift cards skip a bunch of steps and I can shop from home
