I'm not sure how long I have been with my bank. I have never had a checkbook or paper checks, but I do have a debit card. I pay all my bills electronically and I have never had a problem. If the company I am paying does not accept electronic payment, then my bank mails them a paper check on my behalf. I can't remember the last time I used my debit card it has been many years. I still carry it in my wallet just in case.
However, many years ago I was working out of town and went into my wallet to pay for breakfast with my bank's credit card and I noticed that my debit card was missing. I had no idea what I had done with it, but I noticed there was a branch of my bank on the next block, so I walked there. This was a weekend either Saturday or Sunday, and I thought they would not help me till Monday. But then within 20 minutes and some verification I had a new debit card. My old debit card was canceled, and I was on my way.
