The country is at war, partially occupied. That typically sets pretty big limitations to normal freedoms.
Finland skipped elections during WWII. Certainly press and travel were limited. And while I would argue there was still opposition, some leftist parties were banned as too pro-Soviet.
And I wouldn't call banning churches connected to enemy government as "no religious freedom".
That said, much of Eastern Europe still has room for improvement, even ones already in EU and NATO.
