Ah, the age-old toilet paper debate: should the roll hang over or under? While it may seem trivial to some, many people passionately defend their preference as if the very essence of bathroom origins depended on it. After all, there’s a proper toilet paper orientation, right?
Question: Under or Over and why?

Under. Because I say so.

Over
It is easier to roll the paper out as fast or as slowly as you'd like, and it's easy to control the amount of paper you need. It's easier to see when you first want the paper. It's more convenient to grab. And after you've taken a sufficient amount of paper, having it come out from on top means it's harder for the toilet paper to hang too low and touch the floor.

I used to do it over but my ex insisted I had to do it under cause it would catch dust. ??????? Dust? What how never mind. But the roll holder I have here, if I do it over it blocks all the time and if I do it under it doesn't.

Over! The only time I have seen it under is when the owners have undisciplined little kids that play with the roll or cats that like to unroll it. It won't unroll by just batting it. But whenever I travel in the upscale hotels, they have it over and always fold the end in nice shapes, mostly triangles.
Dust? @messy The same amount of paper is exposed to the air in either direction. Plus, dust is the least of my worries when I'm using toilet paper.
Note: I have a bidet, so toilet paper isn't replaced that often.
